Prof. (Dr.) Manju Mandot is an eminent academician, researcher, technology expert, and higher education administrator with more than three decades of experience in teaching, research, university governance, curriculum development, and social extension. She currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Udaipur, and has made significant contributions to the University’s academic and institutional development.
Prof. Mandot has a strong multidisciplinary academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Management, and Social Work. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, with her doctoral research focusing on Computer Visualization of Objects using Surface Modelling Techniques. She has also earned an M.Tech. and M.Sc. in Computer Science, a B.Sc. in Computer Science, an MBA, and a Master of Social Work (MSW). This combination of technical, managerial, and social sciences has shaped her distinctive approach to academic leadership and community-oriented education. Her professional career began in 1990 as a Programmer. In 1996, she joined Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth.
One of her most notable contributions to higher education was the establishment of Rajasthan’s first Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme in 1998 at the Institute of Computer Education, JRNRV. As Head of the Department and Coordinator from 1998 to 2001, she played a pioneering role in strengthening computer education and developing technology-oriented academic programmes in the region.

Prof. Mandot has held several important administrative and academic leadership positions within the University. She served as Principal of the Udaipur School of Social Work from 2015 to 2017, where she worked to strengthen professional social work education and field-based learning. From 2012 to 2019, she served as Director of the Directorate of Jan Shikshan and Extension, where she contributed to adult education initiatives and played an important role in establishing the Department of Agricultural Sciences and introducing the B.Sc. Agriculture programme. Since 2019, she has served as Director of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, guiding the department towards emerging areas such as Data Science, including the introduction of B.Sc. Data Science and M.Tech. Data Science programmes.
Her contribution to university governance has been extensive. She has served as a Member of the Academic Council, Research Board, and Central Library Advisory Committee, and as Convener of the Board of Studies in Computer Science and IT. She has also contributed to institutional quality assurance and student welfare as Co-coordinator of the IQAC and Chairperson of the Anti-Sexual Harassment and Grievance Redressal Committees. Beyond the University, she has served on the expert panel of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), Ajmer, and has contributed to academic and research advisory bodies associated with several universities and institutions.
As a researcher and academic mentor, Prof. Mandot has made substantial contributions to Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing, Medical Imaging, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and related areas of Computer Science. She has successfully supervised 12 Ph.D. scholars, along with 15 M.Phil. and M.Tech. dissertations and numerous undergraduate and postgraduate technical projects. Her doctoral scholars have worked on advanced areas including cyber forensics, medical image processing, brain image visualization, automated number-plate recognition, data mining, and software testing.
Her scholarly contribution includes more than over 70 research papers published in national and international journals and platforms associated with Scopus, IEEE, Springer Nature, Elsevier, and UGC- CARE. Her research has covered important contemporary areas such as multimodal brain image fusion, smart agriculture, automated vehicle number-plate recognition, data mining, and software testing. She has also authored and edited books and academic monographs covering both computer science and socially relevant subjects such as women empowerment, gender mainstreaming, women's rights, and domestic violence.
Prof. Mandot has significant international academic exposure. She received an international fellowship from the Centre of the International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Tokyo, for advanced training in Project Management for System Development. She has participated as a keynote speaker and technical-session chair at international conferences in the United Kingdom, United States, Japan, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. In India, she has delivered more than 30 keynote addresses and expert lectures on subjects including Image Segmentation, Cloud Computing, E-Governance, Nanotechnology for Computing Devices, and the integration of Information Technology with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
An important dimension of her professional journey is her commitment to women’s empowerment and social development. Through the Department of Women’s Studies, she secured government support for 20 specialized training workshops for women workers in tribal and rural areas of South Rajasthan. These programmes addressed legal awareness, minimum wages, workplace health and hygiene, Panchayati Raj, and human rights. She also developed the Post Graduate Diploma in Gender Studies and Technology to promote digital literacy, health awareness, and capacity-building among rural and tribal communities.
Her achievements have been recognized through several state, national, and institutional awards, including the Women Excellence Achievements Award (WEAA 2021) for Outstanding Contributions in Computer Science & Technology, Times Education Achievers Awards for Excellence in Social Work, the National Excellence Award for Community Services, the University Award for Best Services by JRNRV, Best Teacher Award by Dainik Bhaskar, Magan Shikshak Ratna Award, and Vidhya Jyoti Award. She is also a Life Member of professional organizations including the Computer Society of India, Systems Society of India, IAENG, and SDIWC.
